Course Description: Welcome to Psychopathology! In this course, you will learn about common mental disorders and their etiology, course, treatment, and diagnostic procedures. Learning activities include lecture, student presentations, and group discussions.

 

Course Objectives:

1.     After successfully completing this course, you should be able to:

2.     Understand and identify major characteristics of common mental disorder.

3.     Understand the history of mental disorder classification system (i.e., Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) and critically evaluate its strengths and limitations.

4.     Gain knowledge of common mental disorder’s psychological treatment approaches.

5.     Enhanced awareness in community- and/or nation-wide resources/organizations for individuals with mental disorder and their families.

6.     The students will evaluate, create, and develop critical thinking skills in their writing and classroom discussions.
