Course Description: This course provides an overview of the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive aspects of human development from infancy to adolescence. Students examine developmental theory as a framework for the elementary curriculum. This course is appropriate for teachers of all grade levels.
Course Overview: Theory, activities and research will be explored and applied in practice as possible solutions to unique challenges of this age group. The theories of B.F. Skinner, Lev Vgotsky, Jean Piaget, Sigmund Freud, Abraham Maslow, Erik Erikson, and Lauren Resnick are amongst theorists examined in this course.
