In this course students examine all aspects of social media and how it is used as a public relations tool for messaging, reputation creation and preservation, and audience interaction. As a part of learning how to utilize online spaces effectively, students will also explore the problems that can occur when personal use compromises professional activities and how to avoid them. Students will examine and use a variety of sites including Facebook, YouTube, and Second Life. Case studies, blogging and online forums will help students engage in real world scenarios to come up with strategies and solutions for successful PR responses. 3 credits Prerequisites: None
